The June luncheon was led by our wonderful Board Member and Director of Finance, Kari Golden. Kari did an amazing job. Kari introduced all of the generous CREW Las Vegas sponsors and asked all sponsors to stand and accept a round of applause.
A Happy Father’s Day was wished to all our CREW Las Vegas male members and thanks for their support of our tight knit chapter of commercial real estate professionals.
Kari also reminded us all that the goal of CREW Las Vegas is to advance members through networking and education.
Kari acknowledged that at each luncheon we hold a purse raffle which is to help better our chapter or to provide support to those in need. This month the proceeds of the purse raffle will be presented to the family of Melissa Newton. Additionally, LandCare has also donated Aviator tickets which can be raffled off to help the Newton family deal with the recent loss of their dear Melissa.
Brenden Graves, chair of the golf tournament, made a few announcements about the upcoming golf event being held on Friday, June 14. First and foremost, Brenden stressed that we all need to have fun, but safety is paramount. For those who wish to drink alcohol, taxi rides will be provided. Raffle prizes and volunteers are needed as well. Please see Danielle Black for details. The tee off time is 7:30 am and they are expecting 144 golfers which is an incredible success. It will be a full house on the course and we are proud of our committee and all they have achieved this year.
Samantha Flaherty updated us all on the next Community Outreach Committee project. The next event will be geared towards “Back to School”. The plan is to adopt a class room and provide supplies. Please help us reach our goal and bring us supplies to help this worthwhile effort.
Kari introduced our generous luncheon sponsor, LandCare, represented by Owen Calvin. Owen said a few touching words about this best friend Melissa Newton and reminded us all to make wise choices in life.
As the sponsor of today’s luncheon, Owen explained how LandCare is diligent in employee background checks, beautification, and liability prevention. It is of note that none of their team members are paid by commission as their company does not believe in that business model. The LandCare focus is excellence at every level. Please call Owen for your next landscape quality audit or if you need prices for your next year’s budget.
Kari opened up the meeting to our monthly tradition of networking with those at our table. All attendees exchanged business cards and made a few minute introduction to their table mates.
Kari introduced our guest of honor and speaker Hillery Francis. Hillery has been with water conservation for 15 years and started with this 7 member agency as an intern. This agency was formed in 1991 with the express goal of making sure southern Nevada was one of the most proactive water conservation entities in the country. Hillery shared with us the details of her job and how much water we all in fact use. Additionally, Hillery provided graphs and charts that depicted the breakdown by building type of those who use the most water and the least water. Surprisingly it is the single family residential homes that consume the most water. Casinos, resorts and golf courses are not the guzzlers of water that we are all led to believe.
The most important takeaway is understanding that we all can make a difference using the various programs offered to encourage building owners to conserve their water usage. Hillery would be happy to help you understand how your property can contribute to the movement. For more information reach out to Hillery Francis at the Southern Nevada Water Authority for more details or email Hillery here.
Huge thanks to all of those who purchased raffle tickets for our monthly luncheon purse raffle. Your contribution this month will help the family of Melissa Newton. Thanks to our board member, Kelly Connery of Orbis Solutions for purchasing this beautiful purse and a huge congratulations to Gwenn Phillip of Alternative Management in being the lucky winner!
Please note the July Luncheon has been moved to the 2nd Thursday of the month due to the CREW Network Leadership Summit and Independence day. Please mark your calendar for Thursday, July 11.
